Luminescence Tomography

Description: In vivo, comprehensive imaging of biological systems - which are inherently three dimensional - is a major challenge in optical microscopy (read more). Our research efforts in this project focus in closing the gap between high-resolution methods such as confocal and low-resolution techniques such as MRI microscopy to obtain manageable-sized, three-dimensional images at the organism-level with adequate, mesoscopic resolution.

One of the unique operation principles of our tomography strategies is the use of the phase of fluorescent light waves to achieve a large imaging depth at micrometer-scale resolution as detailed in our work on fluorescence coherence tomography.

Research Level: Graduate/Post-doctoral.

Skills*: Design and implementation of microscopy systems, signal/image processing, programming in Matlab/Visual C++ and LabView, experience in working with tissue /cells/proteins.

* Some of these requirements are loosen for graduate students.
