• Photonic structure bioimaging
Photonic Structure Bio-Imaging
Description: A fundamental requirement for investigating biological systems is the ability to achieve high contrast from the sample. This task is particularly important in cellular nanomechanics and single molecule experiments where the detected optical signals are extremely low in power. Motivated by this need, we explore the control of optical radiation through biological matter using novel photonic structures to devise new optical devices for highly accurate measurements in cytomics and proteomics.
Research Level: Graduate/Post-doctoral.
Skills*: Design and implementation of microscopy systems, optical device fabrication, signal/image processing, programming in Matlab/Visual C++ and LabView, experience in working with cells/proteins/membranes.
* Some of these requirements are loosen for graduate students.
